Belgian comic strip center
Roughly a 15-minute walk from 9Hotel Central, the Belgian Comic Strip Center (CBBD) is a must-visit destination for anyone with a passion for the ninth art. Housed in a magnificent building designed in 1906 by Victor Horta, one of the masters of Art Nouveau, this unique museum is entirely dedicated to the world of comic books.
A tribute to Franco-Belgian comic legends
From the moment you enter, you're greeted by the iconic red-and-white rocket from “Destination Moon” and Boule and Bill’s bright red 2CV, setting the tone for a playful and nostalgic journey. The museum celebrates the most beloved characters in Belgian comics, including Tintin, the Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Gaston Lagaffe, Blake and Mortimer, Marsupilami, and many others.
Both permanent and temporary exhibitions explore the history of comics, the creative process, and the evolution of iconic series. Visitors can admire original drawings, storyboards, rare objects, reconstructed sets, and interactive installations that bring the comic universe to life.
Over 4,000 m² of comic culture
Spread across more than 4,000 square meters, the CBBD offers a deep dive into the world of comic art — from early works to modern innovations, from timeless classics to experimental graphic narratives. The museum also includes a specialized library, a research center, and a well-stocked comic book store, perfect for continuing the experience at home.
The Brasserie Horta – a gourmet Art Nouveau experience
End your visit on a delicious note at Brasserie Horta, located inside the museum. With its light-filled dining room, ornate ironwork, and glass ceiling, the space is a stunning example of Art Nouveau design. The menu offers Belgian dishes in an elegant and inspiring setting.
